Earning a Southwest Companion Pass for 2024-2025

The Southwest Companion Pass is a Buy One, Get One program that allows a primary traveler to bring along a second passenger for only the tax amount on the ticket (usually $5.60 each way).

To obtain a Companion Pass, you need to earn 135,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points in a given year, and once you hit that threshold, you will have the Companion Pass for the remainder of that year it is earned PLUS the entire following year. But with some timing and coordination, we can help earn the Companion Pass very early in Year 1, allowing you to take advantage of the BOGO for up to 23 months.

Please note: There is significant timing to take into account to earn the pass efficiently and for the maximum amount of time, but also there are eligibility requirements that need to be followed. We ask that you reach out to the Wealth Team at Wealth@TravelWealth.com before submitting any applications.

Earn a sign-up bonus on two Southwest credit cards
This is a great option for those who are willing and able to apply for Chase Business cards. The Chase Southwest Performance Business card is currently offering an 80,000 point sign-up bonus with a $5000 spend in the first three months of having the card. (80k bonus + $5k spend = 85k points out of the 135k needed)

Then, applying for a personal Southwest card will get you the rest of the way, with the Priority, Premier, and Plus cards all offering 50,000 points.

Timing and Other Considerations
As mentioned earlier, there is some timing to keep in mind when applying and spending on the cards. This includes when to apply for the card(s) and when to start spending on them, things the Wealth Team will help you with when you contact us to coordinate this effort.

Again, if you're interested in earning a Companion Pass for the rest of 2024 and all of 2025, reach out to the Wealth Team at Wealth@TravelWealth.com to get started.
