Attention: Current Bilt Cardholders [Action Required by January 30]
This message is specifically for TravelWealth members who either currently hold a Bilt credit card or recommended this card to their family (this has been a very popular starter card for young adults). We will have a deeper dive into Bilt 2.0, it’s benefits, and value proposition for your future travels in next week’s newsletter.
Current Bilt cardholders likely received some emails about these updates, and I’m very optimistic that Bilt is on the verge of becoming the undisputed #1 program in the Rewards space.
But for existing Bilt cardholders, the switch from Wells Fargo to Cardless as the card issuer is creating some complexity that you will want to navigate properly.
On January 14, 2026, Bilt launched 3 new cards issued by Cardless: Blue, Obsidian, and Palladium. Bilt is requiring their current cardholders to either opt into one of these three new cards by January 30. Converting your existing Bilt card to a Bilt 2.0 card does not result in a credit inquiry and will not impact your score.
After this process, your new card will be sent to you automatically, ready for use on February 7.
Don’t miss the January 30 deadline: if a cardholder does not opt into one of these new cards, the existing Bilt card will convert into a Wells Fargo Autograph card that will not have any ongoing value.
THE PROCESS
Card Selection
First, you will want to go to Bilt’s new credit card page and log into your existing account. In the bottom left hand corner, there should be a link: “Choose a card by 1/30/26 for a seamless transition.” This should allow you to select a new version of the Bilt card.
You can wait until our deep dive next week on each card, but long story short, the Palladium is going to be the most rewarding card for your future travels. It earns 2x points on all transactions, offers a 50,000 point sign-up bonus, and allows you to earn points on both rent and mortgage payments.
We understand this may not be the best card for young adults who don’t spend enough on the card to justify a $495 annual fee. If that’s the case, the $95 Obsidian Card or Blue Card (no annual fee) may be a better fit based on their spending habits.
Confirm Your Details
After selecting your card design, you will be prompted to re-enter your personal details, updating or reconfirming the information you provided to Wells Fargo previously. Again, there will be no impact to your credit score during this process.
Once you submit this information, the Bilt website will give you an instant decision and the opportunity to accept their offer of a new Bilt 2.0 credit card. After accepting the offer, Bilt will ask you if you want to keep your current Wells Fargo credit line open (we chose not to keep it open, but a young adult will likely want to keep the Wells Fargo card open to preserve the credit history).
Lastly, you will be asked if you want to transfer your existing balance to your new Bilt card. There is no fee or added interest to do this, the balance on your current card will appear on your new Bilt card after February 7 as standard purchase for the amount owed.
At this point you are all set and you will just need to wait for your Bilt 2.0 card to arrive in the mail in the next few weeks, ready for use on February 7.
If you have any questions about this process or want to consult with your Points Wealth Manager prior to making a decision, please email wealth@travelwealth.com or schedule a check-in meeting.
